Donington Free Health Walks
We are fast approaching our first anniversary celebration walk on the 2nd of September and have successfully completed over 40 Health Walks. The short or long walks varying from 2 to 4 miles have regularly been attracting 50 members. We now have over 100 members from Donington and its surrounding towns and villages.
On Saturday July 5th in Spalding 17 of the female members from the Donington Health Walks completed the St Barnabas Hospice Charity Midnight walk. Everyone enjoyed the experience and great atmosphere of being together on a midnight walk helping to raise money and publicity for such a good cause.
Once a month the more experienced long health walkers are taking part in a separate Social activity which is a Ramble around the local countryside. We walk up to 7 miles during the course of the morning and finish by about 1pm ending with a well earned meal in one of the local restaurants. The last ramble went ahead with the kind permission of a local land owner who let the group of 20 walkers through his land to see the New Wind Farm at Bicker Fen where we saw the Wind Turbines being delivered in huge sections on very long low loaders from the Docks at Boston where they had arrived from Germany.
Please come along and join us for the Health Walks every Tuesday at 10.20am at the Ruby Hunt Centre,
