Committed to... Improving the Donington Environment for All
Churches and Church Information

Some of you may have seen the report in the Spalding Guardian about St Mary’s being awarded a grant from English Heritage towards the repair work needing to be done to the nave roof. Although it seems a large amount of money it is, unfortunately, just the beginning of the project.

Over the next few months further and more extensive inspections of the roof will take place so that we will then know the full extent of the work that needs to be carried out and just how much fund raising we will need to do!

In March, on the 16th at 2.30pm, we will be having another Memorial Service for those who have lost loved ones during 2007. If I, or one of my colleagues, was involved in taking the funeral service either in church or at the crematorium you should receive an invitation to the service, but of course anyone is welcome to attend. During the service loved ones will be remembered and their names read out.

You may also have heard rumours about St Mary’s Donington joining with more churches in a group, at present there are four. It is still early days in the discussions but there is a distinct possibility that Donington will become one of a group of seven parishes but, I am pleased to say, with an additional priest. Any change can be difficult but I believe that the new arrangements, whilst being challenging, will also be very exciting.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the Parish Lay Ministry team if we can help you in any way

With best wishes
